One half of this is about finding a recording of myself I didn't know was being taken. It's excitement and apprehension at the chance to hear myself the way others hear me.
The other half is about technology listening to us at all times. It's a paranoid delirium while scrawling in a notebook--the only safe place to think aloud.
lyrics
What did I say?
I'm afraid of things I said and things I made up
I have never heard the weight of conversation
I'm not saying I'm afraid to hear you clearly
I'm afraid that you will hear me
I'm ashamed to listen to the audio that we're receiving
I wonder if it hears my scratching pen
I'm sitting with my legs shut, small as I can
Have I lost it completely in orbit?
Humanity is fucking weird
Don't let it sour my existence
Have I gone too far, can I resist it?
Reel me in with the gadgetry
Then I'll give you every private thing
Cry and spill milk
Eat your heart out
Your mouth to God's ears
Cry and spill milk
Mouth to God's ears
Mouth to God's ears
Milk in God's ears
Heart-spilling mouth
Eat till you cry
Eat till you cry
